The 12-year-old stallion Icarus (Douglas x Sioux de Baugy) and the 10-year-old mare Lighthouse Girl (Light On x Rockwell) will in the future be seen with USA’s Spencer Smith. Both horses come from Luciana Diniz; Icarus has been successfully competed by Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, while Diniz herself has campaigned Lighthouse Girl since the fall of 2020.

“Luciana and I have started a cooperation with these two horses, and I will have them here in Wellington for the winter season – both horses are for sale,” Smith comments to World of Showjumping. “Since the winter season will be quiet in Europe and Luciana is busy with her new Master Class as well as several other projects such as LD Space, I think this was a good solution for both of us. Both horses have flown to Wellington where they currently are in quarantine.”

“For me personally it is amazing,” Smith continues. “Both are very competitive horses that have had a lot of success, so I’m excited to get started with them and to have them in my string. 2021 will be an important year for me, and I aim to do well on the GCL team New York Empire as well as competing in some of the bigger Nations Cups.”

“2020 was obviously a bad year for everyone,” Smith says. "However, I got two incredible horses from Georgina Blomberg – Quibelle (FRH Quaid x Stakkato) and Cessna 24 (Contagio x Espri) – that both have done really well, so for me 2020 was good. I also just started on my own, so it's exciting times ahead.”
