Following an agreement between the French and Spanish ministries, the first group of horses has today departed the venue in Valencia after the EHV-1 outbreak that has been traced back to have started in February.
These horses will be quarantined in biosecure stabling outside Paris, the FEI informed today. For the remaining horses, a separate plan to depart the Valencia venue was agreed upon with the regional branch of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA).
Twelve horses have so far died following the EHV-1 outbreak in Valencia. Two on the venue, six in the clinic, a further two in Barcelona and two in Germany.
