The latest FEI EHV-1 update states that a large number of horses in Belgium that participated at the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera have been screened for EHV-1. Three horses have now returned positive results and are displaying mild clinical signs, but no neurological symptoms.
A group of Belgian veterinarians have set up a dedicated clinic with 25 boxes for isolating and treating EHV-1 positive horses. The horse in Belgium that tested positive and was showing clinical signs after returning from Vejer de Frontera is said to be recovering well.
As to the remaining horses at the venue in Vejer de la Frontera, the FEI states that the organisers of the event have informed them that they are departing the venue in a correct and biosecure way.
