Spring MET IV 2021 cancelled

The Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva Nova, Spain, has cancelled the fourth and last part of the Spring MET 2021.

A statement from the organisers reads:

"Due to the deadlines in the new FEI Return to Competition measures for mainland Europe, the organising committee of the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva Nova, Spain, has been forced to cancel Spring MET IV – which was rescheduled to run from April 13th to May 2nd 2021.

The FEI published their Return to Competition measures for mainland Europe yesterday, with the goal to ensure a safe return to international competition after the lockdown caused by the EHV-1 outbreak. The welfare of the horses and the safety of everyone involved is our main priority here at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour, and we take these extensive measures very seriously.

Unfortunately, the specific deadline that is drawn up for the organising committee to submit the required biosecurity and mitigation plans to the FEI Veterinary Department is in less than one week – which includes the coming Easter Holiday. This short timeframe  makes it impossible for us to make the necessary pre-event preparations as described in the measures, and we see no other option but to cancel.

We sincerely regret to have to cancel this event and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause for all of you.

We will return with the Autumn MET in September, and look forward to welcome all of you back then."
