The second competition of the second day of the 88th CSIO of Rome on the Piazza di Siena green oval arena, was conquered by an equestrian who has already written great pages in the history of the Roman showjumping: Eric Lamaze.

On his chestnut Chacco Kid (Chacco-Blue x Come On), the Canadian rider was the only one to go under one minute – in 58.78 seconds – in the 1.55m MAG Prize, an against the clock category with 61 combinations.

Lamaze was almost four seconds faster than Emilio Bicocchi, who finished second in 62.32 on the Italian mare Rondine del Terriccio (Tinka'S Boy x Falconiera Del Terriccio). Third on the podium was another Italian rider Piergiorgio Bucci, on Cochello (Casall x Cartani 4), who stopped the clock at 62.90.

Individual Olympic Champion and team silver medallist in Beijing 2008, but also bronze medallist in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, the 53-year-old Lamaze was also individual bronze medallist at the 2010 WEG in Lexington. He is currently no. 23 in the FEI world ranking and won the Rome Grand Prix twice at Piazza di Siena.
