On Sunday, it was time for ring familiarisation and training at the Baji Koen stadium in Tokyo. A total of 93 horse-and-rider combinations had lined up to check out the Olympic environment. It’s been turbulent for the Australians. First their reserve Rowan Willis withdrew, leaving the team at three riders – then Jamie Kermond tested positive on cocaine, which dropped them down to only two. Luckily, Edwina Tops-Alexander and Katie Laurie got to do the individual competitions.
