Kelli Cruciotti Vanderveen's 14-year-old BWP mare Hadja Van Orshof (Cabrio van de Heffinck x Darco) has sustained a career ending injury which has resulted in an early retirement, the American rider announced in social media on Tuesday.

On her official Instagram account, Cruciotti wrote: "A few weeks ago while we were competing in the Grand Prix at Tryon Hadja was jumping clear like she had so many times before. Coming through the last line she landed and I felt something that was not right. After many scans and time evaluating everything it was determined Hadja sustained a career ending injury to her right front and she will never be able to be ridden again. Thankfully she has recovered and our first and foremost priority is to get her as comfortable as possible."

In 2019, Cruciotti Vanderveen and Hadja Van Orshof won the CSI4* Grand Prix in Tryon and finished second in the CSI4*-W World Cup in Vancouver. That same year, they also took part at the Longines FEI World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden. Devon, Harrisburg, Lexington, Ocala, Wellington and Williamsburg have been other venues where the two have had success at.

At World of Showjumping, we wish Hadja a happy retirement!
