Peder Fredricson (SWE) is the new world no. one on the Longines Ranking. With his 3015 points, Fredricson has taken over the top spot as the best rider in the world – pushing Daniel Deusser (GER) down to rank two, with 225 points separating them. Deusser has been world no. one for the last four months.

”Finally! I can almost not believe it’s true. I’ve been close so many times before. Right now it feels incredibly good," Peder Fredricson commented to the FEI. ”To be number one on the world ranking is a goal I set a couple of years ago. It has at times felt like climbing the highest mountain in the world and I’ve almost reached the summit several times, but always fallen down. It feels amazing to finally reach the top and to be able to put down the flag. I dedicate this to my whole team. To be number one is something we’ve been working for during such a long time. It’s also very special that this success is made up of so many competitions with different horses during a whole year. To reach number one takes more than just good horses, you have to have good horse owners, good grooms and a very dedicated and hard working team on the ground. In that way I rank this much higher than winning just one big class during one weekend. I’m very grateful to my team and we will celebrate this together." 

With 2718 points, Martin Fuchs (SUI) stays as rank three, while Scott Brash (GBR) holds on to rank four with 2510 points and Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) to rank five with 2480 points.

Newly crowned Olympic Champion Ben Maher (GBR) goes from rank six to seven this month, while Steve Guerdat (SUI) jumps from rank ten to six. With 2405 points, Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) moves from rank seven down to eight, while Kent Farrington (USA) climbs up from rank 13 to nine. New to top ten last month, Belgium's Jérôme Guery goes from rank eight to ten. 

This is the fourth month where the Longines Ranking is being defrozen following the implementation of the Covid-19 policy at the end of March last year. Each monthly calculated ranking will now have a shift of two months – meaning a 12-month regular ranking period is expected with ranking no. 251 which will be calculated at the beginning of December 2021. This month’s ranking is calculated over a period of 18 months, and includes validated results from 1st of June 2020 to 30th of September 2021.
