Julien Epaillard and Billabong du Roumois best in Friday's CSI5*-W 1.55m Ciudad de Madrid Trophy

Julien Epaillard (FRA) and the 10-year-old gelding Billabong du Roumois (Mylord Carthago x Papillon Rouge*Normandie) won Friday's feature class at CSI5*-W Madrid Horse Week, the 1.55m presented by Ciudad de Madrid. 

Six of the 44 horse-and-rider combinations in the class made it to the jump-off, where Epaillard once again proved unbeatable with his time of 34.22 seconds. Eduardo Pereira de Menezes (BRA) followed close behind though, when stopping the clock at 34.30 with his faithful H5 Chaganus (Chacco-Blue x Carthago). With a time of 34.95 seconds, Michael Pender (IRL) took the third place aboard HHS Calais (Cavalier Royale x Obos Quality). Denis Lynch (IRL) and GC Chopin's Bushi (Contendro II x Nairobi) finished fourth, while Pieter Clemens (BEL) took the fifth place with Hulde G (Vigo D Arsouilles Stx x Warrant) with the last double clear of the commpetition. 

Earlier in the day, David Will (GER) won the opening CSI5*-W 1.45m class presented by Hola. Aboard Quentucky Jolly (Bandolero La Silla x Ultra Chic), the German rider stopped the clock at 49.31 seconds, leaving Leopold van Asten (NED) on VDL Groep Urane de Talma (Argentinus x Landor S) to the runner-up position and Victor Bettendorf (LUX) on Astuce de la Roque (Kannan x Quick Star) to third place.
