CHI Geneva 2021

Sunday's Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva, the last Major in the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping for 2021, turned into a real thriller and was exciting to the very last rider. It took a long time before the first clear round came, but in the end there were six in the jump-off where it was full speed from beginning to the end. It was a close call between no. 1 Martin Fuchs and no. 2 Harrie Smolders – only 0.23 seconds separated the two of them.

With Martin Fuchs taking the win with Leone Jei, he repeated his victory from the last edition of CHI Geneva in 2019 – back then with Clooney 51.

Congrats to the top three grooms! Sean Vard, Louise Persson and Mariella Offner.

The top three riders were very close on the clock: 0.23 seconds separated Martin Fuchs and Harrie Smolders, while 0.47 seconds separated Smolders and Max Kühner.

As always there was a great spirit between the riders.

Harrie Smolders and the well-jumping Monaco chasing the victory. Even though the two lost out on the win by fractions, it was all smiles after their round.

Max Kühner and Elektric Blue P did two great rounds to take the third place.

The consistent power pair Darragh Kenny and VDL Cartello delivered the first clear round as no. 24 to go. In the end they finished fourth.

The always fast Kent Farrington and Gazelle delivered the quickest round in the jump-off, but with one fence down they had to settle for fifth place.

All smiles for Laura Kraut, who took the sixth place riding Baloutinue.

This oxer at 13a caused the most faults of all the fences in the Grand Prix. Even though King Edward flew over it with Henrik von Eckermann, the couple was prevented from taking part in the the jump-off by a pole in the triple combination at no. 4.

A moment between Marlon Modolo Zanotelli's VDL Edgar M and Andrea Hoenack, after Edgar jumped to an eight place.

The young and talented Swiss rider Elin Ott did an impressive round at the beginning of the class, finishing with only four faults riding Nanu II.

Jack Whitaker and Haya Loma N were kept out of the jump-off by the very last fence.

Another young rider that again impressed was Ioli Mytilineou, that together with her fantastic Levis de Muze finished the difficult course with only one pole down after some great riding.

Christian Kukuk was jumped out of the saddle on the a-element of the triple combination, and landed in front of the saddle. Checker continued to jump the b-element, before Kukuk could pull him out.

A moment for Monaco and Louise Persson during the prize giving...

.... and for Elektric Blue P and Mariella Offner.

Next stop The Dutch Masters!
