Harry Charles (GBR) and the 15-year-old gelding Borsato (Contendro I x Nijinski) took a home win in Friday’s CSI5*-W 1.55m Champagne-Taittinger Ivy Stakes at London International Horse Show. Coming fresh from their win in the Coupe de Genève at CHI Geneva last weekend, the pair recorded yet another big victory this afternoon when going out on top after a lightning fast jump-off that counted ten horse-and-rider combinations.
With a time of 34.07 seconds, Charles left Marcus Ehning (GER) and Calanda (Calido I x Chasseur) behind him in runner-up position – with the young Britsih talent being 1.08 seconds faster than the German legend. Gregory Wathelet (BEL) and Conchento PS (Conthargos x Chacco-Blue) finished third, with a time of 35.37 seconds in the jump-off. Fourth place went to Edouard Schmitz (SUI) on Gamin van’t Naastveldhof (Chacco-Blue x Toulon), and fifth to Jack Whitaker (GBR) – another British young gun – on Elucar V.E. (Cardento x Lupicor).
