EHV-1

In an effort to mitigate the risk of EHV-1 transmission, US Equestrian has released protocols on restriction of entries. Click here to read the full protocols

Yesterday, West Palms Events Management released an update from their venue at the LA February Horse Show in Burbank, California, regarding the horse that earlier this week had to be euthanized. The update reads as follows:

“Yesterday, we reported that one horse that had attended the LA February horse show had to be put down on Tuesday night after exhibiting symptoms potentially related to EHV-1.

We have received the test results from the CDFA lab, and the test was positive for EHV-1. Our deepest condolences go out to the owner, trainer, and rider.

We urge you to remain vigilant and stay closely connected to the CDFA Website for the most up-to-date information and updates.”

At Desert International Horse Park in Thermal, California, EHV testing has continued, and the organisers released the following statement yesterday:

“As we reported yesterday, we submitted five samples to the CDFA for testing. All five of these tests were for new horses with reported fevers yesterday.

All five of these tests came back negative today. These horses will be retested on February 27.

We submitted eleven samples to the CDFA today. Ten of them were retests. One was a new test for a horse with a reported fever yesterday.

We want to confirm that Desert Circuit Week VI has been canceled.”
