Sweden's Henrik von Eckermann, current world number two, took another big win on Sunday when topping the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix at Hubside Jumping Grimaud in St. Tropez, France, with the incredible 12-year-old gelding King Edward (Edward 28 x Feo). 

A total of 19 horse-and-rider combinations out of the 47 starters cleared the first-round track and joined the deciding jump-off. "In my opinion, there were too many clears in the end," Von Eckermann told World of Showjumping about the class. "The course designer miscalculated a little bit for the first round. Then in the jump-off, he put up the jumps and directly, when the jumps became so big, the faults were of course coming – especially when you also had to go fast." 

With a clear round and a time of 41.67 seconds, Von Eckermann took the win ahead of Julien Epaillard (FRA) on Caracole de la Roque (Zandor Z x Kannan) who had to settle for the runner-up spot with a time of 41.79. Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) on VDL Edgar M (Arezzo VDL x Marlon) took the third place with a time of 42.23 seconds, while Steve Guerdat (SUI) finished fourth on Albführen's Maddox (Cohiba 1198 x Maraton) in 42.80 and Andreas Schou (DEN) fifth on Darc de Lux (Darco x Contender) in 43.09. 

"Once again, he jumped good," Von Eckermann said about King Edward. "But what I was really happy with, was the jump-off. For the first time, I got a really good jump-off with him, where everything went exactly how I wanted it to. It was a perfect jump-off. It was fast, but very controlled, smooth all the way, and for that I am the most happy – it felt easy. For me, it was a nice win because I have struggled with the jump-offs: It has been frustrating, when you feel that your horse could not jump better, but you as a rider can't get it right. To be fair, I have been two times second in a Grand Prix lately, but simply out of luck, while others have made mistakes. This time, I for once feel like I deserved to win."
