The WoSJ Blog

The WoSJ Blog returns, and this time Tessa Falanga – Karl Cook's show groom – takes a look back at her travels to CHI Geneva with Caracole de La Roque and Candy.

Caracole and Candy started their journey to Geneva by taking a two hour trailer ride to the quarantine for LAX. They spend the night there in anticipation of their flight the next day.

The girls get loaded onto the container a couple of hours before the flight. They hang out in the warehouse until it’s time to get put on to the plane. They have plenty of snacks for the trip! The flight is eleven hours. I go down to check on them and offer them water every two hours. These two have taken a bunch of flights together so they know the routine and have minimal stress.

We arrive at Luxembourg after a smooth flight. Once the horses are exported, they get on a truck to head to our layover spot. The truck ride is around eight hours.

The girls arrive to the farm around 8am. I unload and unpack while they get settled in their stalls. I take them each for a light lunge so they get to stretch their legs and then they spend the rest of the day sleeping

I ride the girls for the next couple of days before we take the short trip over to the show.

We arrive to the show around 10am on Wednesday. Time to set everything up, get the girls out for a lunge to stretch their legs, and there’s even time for a quick nap before the jog at 3:30. After that the main arena opens up for flatting so the horses can get a sneak peak of the scenery before showing starts on Thursday.
