Germany’s Josch Löhden and the 10-year-old gelding EIC Schabernack (Cornet Obolensky x Quidam de Revel) won Saturday night’s traditional CSI5*-W 1.55m Championat City of Basel – the Golden Drum at the 2026-edition of Longines CHI Classics Basel.
“When you make it to the jump-off, you naturally want to give it your all. I had an incredibly good horse, which helps enormously,” Löhden said in a press release from Longines CHI Classics Basel. “Basel was indescribable for me. This great finish makes it all the more wonderful – I’m looking forward to being back here again next year.”
In a jump-off between nine horse-and-rider combinations, Löhden and EIC Schabernack stopped the clock on 33.16, taking the win ahead of their compatriots Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) and Vestmalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S) in second with a time of 33.31. Katharina Rhomberg (AUT) on Colestus Cambridge (Colestus x Cambridge) rounded out the top three when delivering a clear in a time of 34.23, while Willem Greve (NED) aboard Party In De Hus (Kannan x Coriano) and Adrian Schmid (SUI) on Chicharito 11 (Casalito x Quo Vados) followed in fourth and fifth respectively.
