On home soil, Qatar's Bassem Hassan Mohammed took the victory in the CSI4*-W Grand Prix of Doha last Sunday. Riding the wonderful The Toymaker (Casall Ask x Joost), Bassem Hassan Mohammed cleared the first round of the World Cup and finished on two time-penalties in the second.
Only six riders in the CSI4* World Cup of Doha left all the fences up in the first round, and five of them could not produce another clear round in the second. Before Qatar’s home rider Bassem Hassan Mohammed started his jump-off, he knew producing less than four faults would be enough for the victory. Mohammed did not take any risk with The Toymaker, finishing on two time-penalties and winning the Grand Prix of Doha.
Jordan’s Ibrahim Bisharat and Bowie Z (Balou du Rouet x Jumpilot) set the best time in the second round, but got four faults and became runners-up: 4/46.61 seconds. Saudi-Arabia’s Kamal Bahamdam and the great Noblesse des Tess (Cumano x Irak E) finished third after producing a clear round in the second round, but a rail down in the first. Egypt’s Mohamed Talaat and Qatar’s Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi finished on fourth and fifth position.
