Christian Ahlmann (GER) and the 9-year-old stallion Solid Gold Z (Stakkato Gold x Calvin Z) went all the way to the top in Saturday's CSI4-W* 1.50-1.60m FEI World Cup™ Al Shira'aa Longines Grand Prix counting for the Arab League in Abu Dhabi.
The Grand Prix had 46 riders in it and went over two rounds, with four horse-and-rider combinations producing double clears. It was Ahlmann and his wonderful stallion that were the fastest against the clock, stopping the clocks on 39.16 seconds. Abdel Said (EGY) followed in runner-up spot with a time of 39.49 seconds, aboard the 10-year-old Arpege du Ru (Apache d'Adriers x Quat'Sous) while third place went to the young and talented Michael Pender (IRL) on HHS Calais (Cavalier Royale x O.B.O.S. Quality) in 39.88 seconds. Fourth place went to Chad Fellows (GBR) on Vinci de Beaufour (Diamant de Semilly x Heartbreaker), who had the last double clear of the class – followed by Maysam Bisharat (JOR) on Un Dollar de Blondel (Dollar Dela Pierre x Landadel) in fifth with a single time penalty from round one.
