Germany’s former world number one Daniel Deusser and the 11-year-old stallion Otello de Guldenboom (Tobago Z x Caretino) won Friday night’s CSI5*-W 1.50m De Telegraaf Prize at the 2025-edition of Jumping Amsterdam in the Dutch capital.
While thirteen horse-and-rider combinations initially cleared their way into the deciding jump-off, Marcus Ehning (GER) on Priam du Roset (Plot Blue x Tanael du Serein) and Denis Lynch (IRL) aboard Vistogrand (Fantaland x Mr Visto) opted not to take part, leaving it to be a battle between eleven pairs.
Deusser and Otello du Guldenboom posted the fastest time in the jump-off, crossing the finish line in 34.23 seconds – taking the win, while Sweden’s Peder Fredricson and Alcapone des Carmille (Diamant de Semilly x Heartbreaker) slotted into second as the last pair out with their time of 34.65. France’s former world number one Simon Delestre and the 11-year-old stallion Jiamo VDS (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Carolus H) placed third in 34.93, while two home heroes followed in fourth and fifth with Willem Greve and Highway TN N.O.P. (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Chellano) taking the fourth spot in 34.99, followed by Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) and O’Bailey vh Brouwershof N.O.P. (Darco x Contact van de Heffinck) in fifth in 35.10.
“It’s quarter to twelve, so luckily we won,” Deusser told World of Showjumping as he was getting ready for the prize giving ceremony minutes before midnight. “I am very happy. Otello has jumped these classes for approximately a year now and gets quicker in the jump-offs, he actually turns with me now. He is naturally not the fastest one, but he has gotten quicker and he has won quite a few classes in the last six months. It is nice that he does this now also indoors, because before it was always outdoors, on straight lines where I could leave a stride out. I am very proud of him!”
