Daniel Deusser (GER) and Tobago Z (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve x Mr Blue) topped Friday’s CSI5* Longines Grand Prix in Lyon. As many as 20 horse-and-rider combinations made it to the jump-off in the 1,60m class build by Grégory Bodc, so the second round turned into a race against the clock with another seven clearing the course again.
“I took some risk at the start of the course. However, I probably could have gone faster on the last two obstacles. I did not take all the risks and it paid off tonight. I hope Tobago will keep his good form and motivation for Sunday,” Deusser said after his win.
Finishing the shortened course in 34,60 seconds, Daniel Deusser secured the win ahead of Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Bianca (Balou du Rouet x Cardento) in 35,34 seconds. Third place went to Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) with H&M Legend of Love (Landzauber x Corgraf), followed by Mark McAuley (IRL) with Jasco vd Bisschop (Dulf van den Bisschop x Krunch de Breve) and Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) with Toveks Mary Lou (Montendro x Portland L).
