Great Britain's Donald Whitaker and the 11-year-old mare Little Khira H (Böckmann's Lord Pezi x Kolibri) won Saturday evening's CSI5*-W 1.50m Longines Ranking class at Helsinki International Horse Show in the Finnish capital.
The 1.50m competition against the clock had 31 horse-and-rider combinations at start, and with a clear round in a time of 48.93, Whitaker took the win ahead of Switzerland's Steve Guerdat on Hubba Bubba (Van Helsing x Abke 4) in second. “I’m happy for Khira, she deserved to win yesterday, but didn’t so today was great. I hope we can do the same thing tomorrow," Whitaker commented in a press release from Helsinki International Horse Show.
“It’s great to be back in Helsinki, I’m always happy to come and ride here. It would have been nicer had we won together with Bryan, much nicer, but I’m still happy with our performance today," second placed Guerdat said.
Bryan Balsiger (SUI) on Clouzot de Lassus (Ugano Sitte x Tenor Manciais) placed third, while the fourth spot went to Eduardo Pereira de Menezes (BRA) on H5 Kastelle Memo (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Cicero Z) and fifth to Noora Pentti (FIN) on Con Caya (Con Chello x Chambertin 3).
