It was double German on top in Saturday's CSI5*-W Emirates Airline Dubai Grand Prix FEI World Cup worth AED 645,454 at the 2018 Dubai Show Jumping Championship, with Miriam Schneider and Jörg Naeve taking the first and second place.

Schneider rode the 11-year-old mare Cartagena (Cellestial x Le Matin) to victory in this 1.60m FEI World Cup competition counting in the Arab League after producing the fastest of the three double clear rounds in the class. Stopping the clock at 46.10 seconds, Schneider took the win ahead of her compatriot Jörg Naeve on Be Aperle VA (Clarimo x Concerto II) who crossed the finish line in 48.27 seconds against the clock. Frederic David (FRA) had the last double clear of the class with Equador van't Roosakker (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin), in a time of 48.69 seconds.

“This is my biggest victory, I have never won a five-star, four-star or three-star Grand Prix before so I am a bit surprised but also very happy," said Schneider after her win. "I am not a very professional jump-off rider, Most of the time I am slow or something goes wrong, so going into this jump-off I knew I had to be clear, and fast.”

With four faults from the first round, and a fast clear the second time around Cecilie Hatteland (NOR) finished fourth. Fifth went to Rene Tebbel (UKR), clear in the first and with four faults in round two.
