What a way to celebrate his birthday! Pieter Devos (BEL) sure knows how to gift himself with the best present: a win at the Jumping International de Bordeaux celebrated by 6000 spectators.
After a victory two years ago in Sunday’s Grand Prix Land Rover, another one in last year’s World Cup Grand Prix, Pieter Devos now seized the first price in Friday night’s 1.50m Prix FFE Generali Trophée Nouvelle Aquitaine riding the 14-year-old Apart (Larino x Burggraaf ).
“Now, we can say that I won all the big classes of the Jumping International de Bordeaux,” Pieter laughed after his win. “For once, I really wanted to play the game and go fast on the Friday class. I won’t ride Apart in the World Cup Grand Prix tomorrow, and since I would like to ride him in the final in Gothenburg, I wanted to ride him with speed on a whole course before that.”
With a perfect round in 58.15 seconds, Pieter Devos and Apart showed Bordeaux they were the fastest indeed. Following them, the Dutch rider Michael van der Vleuten with Dana Blue (Mr. Blue x Hemmingway) took care of the runner-up position in 58.33 seconds and France’s Simon Delestre riding Chesall Zimequest (Casall x Concerto 4) took third with a time of 61.94 seconds.
