Rene Tebbel with Friday's biggest win in Sharjah

CSI5*-W Sharjah 2018

Friday's biggest class at the CSI5*-W event in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, was the 1.50m competition in two phases presented by Longines. With 50,000 Euros of prize money on offer, a total of 28 horse-and-rider combinations were lined up for the challenge set by the course designer Louis Konickx. 

In the end, it was Rene Tebbel (UKR) on the 12-year-old stallion Suspens Floreval (Clinton x Don Juan) who took home the win after the pair crossed the finish line in 26,62 seconds. Abdulrahman Bader Alrajhi (KSA) on the 16-year-old stallion Chilli Pepper van de Helle (Cumano x Sheyenne de Baugy) took the runner-up position with a time of 27,30 seconds, while Anita Sande (NOR) on the 12-year-old stallion For Cash (For Pleasure x Cassini I) placed third with a time of 28,70 seconds. Khalid Hilal Al Khatri (BRN) on the 13-year-old mare Sierra (Silvio x breeding unknown) took the fourth place, and the fifth spot went to the new combination of Evelina Tovek (SWE) on the 9-year-old mare Dalila de la Pomme (Taran de la Pomme x Diamant de Semilly).

The 25,000 Euro Sharjah Tourism Speed Class, a 1.45m speed and handiness competition went to Mohammed Al Hajri (UAE). Riding the 13-year-old gelding Catan (Catoki x Exorbitant xx), Al Hajri topped the field of 22 starters with his time of 61,54 seconds. Emanule Gaudiano (ITA) on the 9-year-old mare Carlotta (Chaccomo x Cento) took the runner-up position with a pole down in 58,26 seconds, while a clear round in 64,38 seconds secured a third-place finish for Abdulrahman Bader Alrajhi (KSA) on the 14-year-old gelding Qognac des Hayettes Z (Quartz Adelheid Z x Pilot). Henk van de Pol (NED) on the 8-year-old gelding Looyman Z (Numero Uno x Wellington) took the fourth plac, and the fifth spot went to Jörg Naeve (GER) on the 9-year-old gelding Benur du Romet (Balou du Rouet x Damour).
