“I didn’t expect her to jump so well and competitively again so quickly,” Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat – who returned to competition in the beginning of December last year after two back surgeries – said in a press release from Longines CHI Classics Basel 2026 after the 13-year-old mare Is-Minka (Mylord Carthago x Flyinge Quite Easy) took a home win in Saturday morning’s CSI5*-W 1.50m Prize of Gerüstbau Nordwest in Basel.
With a time of 60.05, Guerdat and Is-Minka took the top honours in the competition judged as a Table C, counting for the Longines Rankings Group C. The hosts showed great form, with Martin Fuchs (SUI) and Love de Vie (Grandorado TN x Vigo d’Arsouilles) taking the runner-up spot in 61.40, followed by Bryan Balsiger (SUI) on Fais Toi Belle du Seigneur Pleville CH (Baltik Sitte x Heartbreaker) in fourth in 62.15 and Barbara Schnieper (SUI) aboard Judy KM (Joly St. Hubert x Saphir von der Rossi) in fifth in 63.06. Spain’s Armando Trapote and Nasa de Toxandria (Vertigo Saint-Benoit x Chopin van het Moleneind) finished fifth in 63.14.
