It was a close call in the CSI5* Land Rover Grand Prix in Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon, as Daniel Deusser beat Kevin Staut by 0.01 seconds in a thrilling jump-off. Riding Espyrante (Obourg x Pauillac De Meia Lua), Deusser produced one of eleven clear rounds over the tricky 1.60 track to proceed to the jump-off. With five French riders moving on to the jump-off, the excitement was at a maximum for the home crowds.
Coming in towards the very end, Daniel did a terrific performance over the shortened track to stop the clock on 36.92 seconds. As last to go, home hero Kevin Staut had the chance to snatch the win on Silvana HDC (Corland x Widor) – who is back in top shape – but as he crossed the finish line he was 0.01 seconds behind and had to settle for the runner-up position this time around.
Third place went to Gerco Schröder on a very well jumping Glock's Cognac Champblanc (Clearway), almost a second behind the winner on the time, while the fourth and final double clear round was delivered by Marcus Ehning on Funky Fred (For Pleasure x Pilot).
