After finishing second in Friday's Longines FEI World Cup of Riyadh, world no. one Peder Fredricson (SWE) and the 13-year-old gelding Hansson WL (Hip Hop x Iowa) delivered the only double clear in Saturday's CSI5*-W 1.55m Grand Prix of Riyadh to take the win.
A total of eighteen horse-and-rider combinations had lined up for the Grand Prix, and finishing second was Kamal Bahamdan (KSA) on Jack van het Dennehof (Toulon x Quidam De Revel) who had four faults in the jump-off in a time of 41.56 seconds – 0.25 behind Fredricson. Emile Tacken (NED) and Cas (Viento Uno W x Andiamo) were the only other pair to make it through to the jump-off, and they finished third after a costly fault early on at the 1.55m upright by the entrance of the arena to finish with a time of 42.18 seconds.
