Joe Shaw: "Enjoying a bit of down time"

When at home...

Billy Twomey's show groom Joe Shaw is back home from Florida, and like most of us he finds time to get jobs around the yard done – also hoping for a few long lunch breaks along the way with his colleagues.

"Hi everyone,

For me home groom life has only just begun, after arriving back from Florida. I’m just about caught up on the mammoth amount of washing I have as I’ve been away since January. As of now Big Shirley (my truck) is washed and sparkling and ready to hit the road again, but who knows when!

Leaving Florida was a very worrying time, and there was a lot of uncertainty as to whether we would actually make it home. Rumours spreading maybe we have to stay in Amsterdam and do 14 days quarantine, the borders are shut so can’t pass through, but I quickly realised this was not the case and everyone can get home!

It’s going to be strange not going to shows and seeing friends but there’s always FaceTime so we can have a catch up, it’s better to stay home and stay safe.

For now the horses are relaxing in the fields and enjoying a bit of down time and I will be doing the same! It will be nice to stay at home for a while, it gives us a good chance to get jobs done around the yard we don’t normally have time for. I work with nice people who make everything fun and maybe we can get a few long lunch breaks along the way...

Keep Calm, Carry On and Stay Safe!

Joe"
