Stuck at home, Marc Houtzager’s show groom Madeleine Broek is like most of us missing her friends. 

"Hi everybody, 

A little over two weeks ago, as I was packing the truck for Den Bosch, Marc came to tell me that everything had been cancelled. The lucky thing for me was that I’m always one of the last ones arriving at the show and before I was done packing, I could unpack again. Always look on the bright side of life :) Anyway, the show was already going to be strange, without public and no shops. But then it all became reality and really serious. 

Nobody knows what’s going to happen next and for how long this will go on. In the meantime, we keep the horses happy and in training at home.

I also have to get used to being at home for so long. Free evenings and time for other things. As a new hobby, I’ve started running. Not only the horses have to stay fit!

One of the difficult parts is not seeing the other grooms that I’m used to meeting every weekend. I hope the situation is going to change in a good way, and that we can go back to shows again sooner rather than later. With so much uncertainty, it’s far from ideal right now. 

Meanwhile, I hope everybody stays safe and in good health. And I hope to see everyone soon!
