Friday’s CSIO5* 1.45m Stiftelsen Falsterbo Horse Show Prize in Falsterbo, Sweden, went to the host nation’s very own Marcus Westergren and the 12-year-old mare Fellaini de Liebri Z (Faustino de Tili x San Patrignano Corrado). With a time of 60.36 seconds, the Swedish duo bested a field of 35 participants, taking the win ahead of the current world number two Richard Vogel (GER) and Baxxter 4 (Breitling LS x Acorado) in second in 62.72. Megane Moissonnier (FRA) and Ici Et La Courcelle (Cocktail de Talma x Kashmir van’T Schuttershof) completed the podium in third with a time of 64.00, followed by Mimi Gochman (USA) on Lumiere BH (Akarad Hero Z x Darco) in fourth in 64.34 and Yuri Mansur (BRA) aboard Blitz van de Molenbrug Z (Bisquet Balou C x Darco) in fifth in 65.89.
The second five-star competition of the day, the CSIO5* 1.45m qualifier for the Falsterbo Derby, saw Ireland’s Jordan Coyle and the 11-year-old gelding King Kannan GP (Kannan x Warrant) take the top honours. Jumping clear in a time of 68.66 seconds, Coyle topped a field of 25, spoiling the Swedish party by leaving Linda Heed (SWE) on Laurien van Orshof (Cabrio van de Heffinck x Winningmood) to second and Stephanie Holmén (SWE) aboard Next Lady (Emerald x Quick Star) to third. Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat on Easy Star de Talma (Quick Star x Opium de Talma) finished fourth, followed by Ireland’s Trevor Breen on Konrad Obolensky (Cornet Obolensky x Stakkato) in fifth.
