The selection committee of the Limburg Foal Auction had a generous selection to choose from, out of a strong breeding area. As a result, on Wednesday the 27th of September, nearly 80 foals are offered in the live auction at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre. Another 47 foals have been selected for the online auction, which concludes two days later.

At the European Championship in Milan, two Limburg-bred products, namely Henrik von Eckermann’s Iliana (s.Cardento) and the stallion Highway TN (s.Eldorado van de Zeshoek) of Willem Greve, finished in the individual top ten. In the southeast of the Netherlands, not only is the sport flourishing, but the breeding is also of an unprecedented level. The majority of the foals in the Limburg Foal Auction comes from this breeding area, thus possessing great potential.

The new foal collection is infused with performance genes. Foals from mares that have performed at international 1.50/1.60m level or siblings to horses who are successful at the highest level are included in the Limburg Foal Auction collection. Proven damlines are linked to both established progenitors and promising breeding stallions such as Cornet Obolensky, Comme Il Faut, Catoki, Emerald van ‘t Ruytershof, Ermitage Kalone, Tobago Z, Heartbreaker, Balou du Reventon and Darry Lou. “What has become clear over the past years, is that we are right in the heart of the equestrian mecca of Europe. The sport is concentrated in this region, and as I have mentioned before: where the sport unfolds, the best breeders will also be found. In the southeastern part of the Netherlands and the surrounding countries, breeding is carried out at a high level. Thanks to the breeders, we have been able to assemble a strong collection of foals for both the live and online auction. We have selected foals from established damlines, each meeting our criteria for type, correctness, movement, and pedigree. This collection offers opportunities for every showjumping horse enthusiast, and in the right hands, these foals can grow into not only strong references for our auction but also for the entire breeding area”, says Paul Hendrix.
