You are still looking for an extraordinary breeding or sport partner? Then the 1st Holsteiner Winter Chance is just right for you!

On 29 and 30 November, 78 lots will be put up for sale at the new auction launched by the Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction, the youngest being just two- and three-year-old and as impressive for their excellent free-jumping performance as for their valuable bloodlines.

Let’s take Clayton for a start: this thee-year-old Clarimo-Contender son comes from the direct damline of three-time Derby winner Collin, which has also produced the licensed stallion Chin Chin. Or another three-year-old by Comme il Faut-Cartani: the produce of his second dam, Wodka II (by Lord) includes the licensed stallion Clearway and the international sport mares Carassina (Thomas Kleis) and Chica’s Way (Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann).

Another interesting lot is Cresco by Casall-Larimar. The two-year-old gelding’s third dam is the famous Wisma, who made breeding history for producing a row of licensed sons and international sport horses like Clarimo, Cassini I and II, to name only a few. And the offer includes highly interesting fillies for breeder clients, first of all Mien Deern by Million Dollar. The two-year-old filly is out of One Star (by Caretino), who is also dam to Dutch championship contender Glock’s Cognac Champblanc (Gero Schröder). And if that were not enough: Mien Deern’s second dam is also dam to H&M Chilli Willi (Nicola Philippaerts) and Camiro (Toni Andre Hansen). So Min Deern is a dual-purpose offer – with great promise for breeding and for sport.

But it is not only these young Holsteiner the 1st Holsteiner Winter Chance has to offer, as the selection also caters to ambitious competition riders with numerous horses, like for example the catalogue’s cover girl, Charissa by Clarimo-Casall from the famous mare family 104A. The big-framed grey mare is eight years old and already placed in jumping classes to 1.40m.

Not to forget lot no.1, eight-year-old Casaltino by Casall-Carthago, successfully shown in international youngster tours by Rolf-Göran Bengtsson. One year younger, but also ready to compete is Chicharito LS, a Fergar Mail SF-Carthago son with results to 1.30m. Fans of international blood may be interested in Belgian-approved Picasso VD by Cornet Obolensky-Zidane. The four-year-old grey stallion was the highest priced lot of the 2017 BWP licensing and completed 50-day performance testing with good marks (8.38). We could carry on endlessly with exciting offers like these…

From unbacked two-year-old youngsters to fully trained and successful competition horses, the offer should meet the needs of a wide range of clients. Roland Metz, executive director of the Holsteiner Verband marketing and auction GmbH, is looking ahead: “The Holsteiner Winter Chance is intended as a pilot project.”

Official training of the course-ready jumpers started already on 18 November at 9 am in the Elmshorn Fritz-Thiedemann arena, the free-jumping training of the youngsters on 24 November at 9 am., followed by the training of the horses already saddle broken. The Elmshorn training provides perfect conditions to try-out your personal favourites without any hurry in the run-up to the auction. Please contact the auction team for individual arrangements. It goes without saying that all auction horses have x-rays available, and, standard practice at all Holsteiner auctions, come with an automatic 12-week post-auction insurance cover.
