Holsteiner Foal Auction on 10th June 2015

9 and 10 June Holsteiner Horse Days Elmshorn

The Elmshorn Holsteiner Horse Days are a must on the equine calendar of breed and performance enthusiasts.

No other location provides the breeders with as much information about the current status of Holsteiner horse breeding as they can have a look at the equine elite ranging from foals to three-year-old mares to up-and-coming show jumper and dressage horses and form their own opinion.

Who is the best 3-year-old filly of Schleswig-Holstein in 2015?

At deadline, just two of all in all ten breeding district mare inspections have been held, so we do not know the actual number of attending three-year-olds yet. “I am expecting about 60 mares at Elmshorn”, says Dr Thomas Nissen, which means a small but high-quality selection of three-year-old fillies. So far, two fillies in particular have caught the eye of the inspection panel alongside Dr. Nissen: a Connor daughter in Dithmarschen, and in Segeberg a filly by TB sire Armand wowed not just the inspection panel.

All in all, the breed director is anticipating a good age group dominated by fillies sired by younger stallions. Also some outside blood improvement stallions, like for example Nabab de Rève, have been stepping into the limelight with their daughters at the inspections. Not to forget Casall, who has made it into the limelight time and again with his daughters in past years.

26 foals expected in the auction ring

26 foals have been selected for the foal auction to be held on Wednesday, 10 June. This year’s selection offers a highly interesting mix of blood lines. Adagio de Talma, a Lamm de Fetan son intended to provide the Holsteiner breed with new performance blood, is represented by three offspring. Three foals are by Sandro Boy, a Sandro son who has celebrated many international successes with Marcus Ehning. Untouchable, a highly proven international show jumper, has one foal, same as Chaman, who took home third place at the Hamburg Championship with Ludger Beerbaum recently.

Elmshorn also caters for those looking for a “dressage foal“: Quaterback, a tremendous mover, is represented by two offspring. “Up-and-coming stallions” like Casaltino, Cascadello I, or Dinken have convinced the selection panel with their progeny same as the proven Casall – sire of champion stallions, champion mares and successful sport horses – who is represented by 5 foals in the Elmshorn auction selection, or Clarimo, Colman, and Connor. Young Horse Competition – looking for the new dressage and show jumping champions

What about up-and-coming Holsteiners in competition? Visitors can get to the bottom of this question at the Young Horse Show held on 9 and 10 June where the Schleswig-Holstein top-riders start their promising young horses in the fledgling stages of a successful competition career. Classes include 3- and 4-year-old ridden classes selecting participants for the Warendorf Bundeschampionat, dressage horse classes at A through M level as well as (young horse) show jumping classes at A, L, M, and S level with horses competing for 5- and 6-year-old State Champion in dressage and show jumping as well as 7-year-old Show Jumping State Champion.

Moreover, Elmshorn also hosts the Dressage Horse Cup again, this year geared for 5- and 6-year-old Holsteiner dressage horses. Valuable points can be collected on the way to the final at the State Championship.

1000 Euros for the breeders of the show jumping Champions

No event on the scale of the Holsteiner Horse Days would be possible without sponsors. Again, we have been able to enlist well-known companies like VTV insurances and Hypo Vereins Bank to sponsor the Elmshorn competition. Same as past years, the partner and business circle Holsteiner Masters, committed in particular to training and advancement of young Holsteiner jumping horses, has announced to reward the respective breeders of the five-, six-, and seven-year-old show jumping champions with 1000 euros each. The breeder must be present and accept the cheque in person, otherwise the prize is forfeit. Moreover, there is another special treat for the six- and seven-year-olds: the top three in the 6-year-old championship qualify for the Holsteiner Masters Zukunftspreis at the Baltic Horse Show, and the 7-year-old champion wins a slot in the youngster tour at Kiel.
