Over the past two decades many top-talents have been auctioned off at the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. The young showjumper auction has seen quite a few of the youngsters from their collection move on to have exceptional careers. To celebrate the 20th edition of the auction the selection committee has decided to honor some of the most prominent horses that carry the name of DSHS-Ambassador.
“Instead of the Horse of the Year award we’ve thought it would be a good time to honor some of the horses that have been in the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. Looking back over 19 editions we’ve seen many horses so exceptionally well. They’ve given us and their riders and owners fantastic memories. We’ve chosen Apart HX, Coronado and Glamour Girl as recipients of a DSHS Lifetime Achievement Award because of their phenomenal results and equally impressive win sums”, Paul Hendrix explains.
“Apart HX was homebred, so he is not only a great ambassador for the DSHS but also for Stal Hendrix. The outstanding moments this – by now retired – KWPN-gelding has had with all his riders and especially Pieter Devos are plentifull with, among others, winnings at 5-star level in Nations Cups, World Cup qualifiers and at the Global Champions Tour. He’s earned well over eight hundred thousand euros in his day”.
"Another horse that we want to highlight is Glamour Girl. She is stabled next door at our neighbor, Henrik von Eckermann, and is still jumping successfully at the highest level of the sport with multiple Grand Prix victories and a large number of winnings in the Global Champions Tour. This is also reflected in her earnings, which is well over a million euros", Hendrix says.
"And then there is Coronado, the first DSHS-ambassador that made it all the way to the Olympic Games with Nayel Nassar. We could not be prouder of having an Olympic reference, which thanks to his current but also his previous rider Francisco Pasquel, is also on his way to earning almost as much as Glamour Girl."
The 20th edition of the DSHS will take place on Tuesday September 24th at the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in the Netherlands.
