The collection includes a pretty colt - Quick vh Koningsbos - by Elvis ter Putte out of the sister of Horizon de Regor. Horizon de Regor and Pieter Clemens became vice Belgian Champion at Zangersheide last weekend.
On the 1st of October the foal auction of Twinkeling will take place again. For this 3rd edition, the auction committee selected a quite impressive collection. An excellent reason to go out and have a chat with the Buyens family at Stoeterij Twinkeling in Lichtaart, about 20km east of the city of Antwerp.
“Could you tell us a bit more about the organization, and maybe also about what differentiates Auction Twinkeling?”
Leen Buyens: “We organized our own auction 2 years ago. We had been breeding quite some foals since the launch of Twinkeling in 2010 and we always considered auctions to be the most efficient market mechanism for bringing sellers and potential buyers together.”
One of the eye catchers is the beautiful dark brown filly - Quiet vh Zorgvliet - by Cornet Obolensky out of a Vagabond de la Pomme dam. This Vagabond de la Pomme mare is the sister of Kevin Staut’s For Joy van ‘t Zorgvliet.
“We had entered a few of our foals in some of the bigger auctions before and we thought there was some room for improvement. Since the beginning, our philosophy has been to orchestrate a convivial evening for buyers, sellers and spectators in a nice setting, while putting everything in place to organize the auction in the most efficient way. This allows us to offer very competitive pricing conditions. We are in it for the long run and fully realize that keeping all parties involved satisfied, is the only way to be successful.
“With this vision in mind we are consistently following our own course, and thanks to hard work and a thorough selection, we achieved to bring together a true top collection this year, with 29 foals out of the best dam lines and an exclusive embryo.
Moreover, as we only started a couple of years ago, we don’t have the fame of some of the other big auctions yet. This provides connoisseurs a very interesting opportunity to purchase a future top horse at the best price/quality ratio.”
Another very interesting foal by Contact van de Heffinck is Qupido de W&S, the brother of Halifax van het Kluizebos who is currently jumping very successfully with Stephex rider Lorenzo de Luca.
Can you zoom in on the collection of this year?
Bart Buyens: “We are extremely pleased with the collection we can present this year and I think it fair to first of all thank all the breeders for their trust in our organization. The overall quality of the collection is very high and we believe it includes a number of true eye catchers”
A very special embryo will also be auctioned this year. Comme Il Faut, the father of this embryo, is all in the news lately, especially after their great victory in the GP of the LGCT in Vienna. But also the dam of this future foal is a very special one as she is the sister to Scott Brash’ super horse Hello Sanctos.
The full collection includes one embryo and 29 jumping foals out of important dam lines, like the ones of Bethsabee van de Maltahoeve, Watch Me d’O, Verelst Caracalla, Utopia van de Donkhoeve, Quidam de Revel, Couscous van Orti and many more.
A very special embryo will also be auctioned this year, out of Marcus Ehning's Comme Il Faut. The dam is the sister to Scott Brash’ super horse Hello Sanctos.
AUCTION TWINKELING takes place on Oct 1st 2016 in Lichtaart (Belgium). The doors open at 7pm for a reception. At 8pm the auction will start.
