Belgian jumpers have probably never been more dominant in international show jumping as they are today. In almost every Grand Prix, Belgian breeding products can be found in the top of the rankings, such as for instance Flora de Marisposa, HH Azur, Equita vh Zorgvliet, Emerald, Barron and London. This success is also re ected in today’s breeding and the BWFA collection of 2016.

Top mares and creative crosses

The secret of Belgian breeding lies in the use of the best dam lines, creatively crossing them with proven breeding stallions or younger talented top stallions. This is also the formula at the base of the BWFA selection for years, which explains the sheer number of top horses and sires today that have come through the BWFA over the past years. Last year, Luigi d’Eclipse, Million Dollar, Nic Nic Quality and Nathan vd Heffinck, four BWFA stallions, were approved for the BWP, Zangersheide and Holsteiner Verband. In the international sport, the likes of Halifax vh Kluizebos,Carlitto van ’t Zorgvliet and Don Cumarco all prove their quality.

A glimpse of the collection

The 2016 BWFA collection is truly exceptional. From a pool of over 100 foals offered up for our auction, all possessing excellent dam lines, we have selected an extraordinary collection of 25 foals after strict selection procedures on the criteria of model, foundation and movements.

The full collection can be viewed on our website and in the BWFA catalogue, but we would like to give you a glimpse of what you can expect at this year’s BWFA Auction.

First up are the sires, with proven stallions including For Pleasure, Casall, Diamant de Semilly, Cornet Obolensky and Kannan. Several big names from the international show jumping sport are also represented; such as Emerald, Comme Il Faut, Alicante and Cabrio vd Heffinck. The collection is completed by a number of products from young and very talented sporting stallions such as Carlow vd Helle, Safari d’Auge, Matisse de Mariposa and Kafka vd Heffinck.

BWFA trademark damlines

But in addition to this impressive line up of stallions, many of our clients also look forward to the dam lines of the BWFA foals, as this is traditionally the BWFA’s famed trademark. In this area 2016 promises to be a true Grand Cru year as well. Last year, we auctioned the full brother of top show jumper Domino of the Coulter family and previously Jos Verlooy, for a record amount of €65,000, and today we present Quick Step vd Middelstede, a half brother of that same Domino.

Does the name Decibelle du Roc ring a bell? This is the dam of Qlassic Bois Margot under World Nr 1 of the FEI Rankings Simon Delestre, bringing him among others the World Cup victory in Mechelen. Out of this mare combined with Cornet Obolensky, the BWFA is presenting the foal Quix des Dames.

First BWFA embryo

The 2016 Grand Prix of La Baule had the fantastic jumping Grand Cru van de Rozenberg as its winner. The 2016 BWFA collection offers Quebec vd Rozenberg, a half brother of Jerome Guery’s jumping machine, who according to his rider belongs among the likes of Flora and Ryan des Hayettes. Vigo d’Fee de Septon is another picture of the high quality of this collection, a son of Vigo d’Arsouilles out of the top mare Reine Fee des Hazalles, who has produced four international show jumpers already, including Fabienne Daigneux-Lange’s Grand Prix mare Venue Fee des Hazalles.

For the very rst time, BWFA 2016 will also offer an embryo for auction, and it is one to look out for: the sire is the Grand Prix jumper Alicante of Jerome Guery, and the dam is the Grand Prix mare Cortina, who has five top sport horses in her direct dam line.

Tip of the iceberg

The brief summary above is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg, but it gives a good idea of the wealth on offer in our 2016 catalogue. It is interesting to note that this year we have substantially more llies on offer than in previous years, which greatly pleased the selection committee as they are in such high demand with the buyers.

The full collection of the BWFA 2016 can be found on www.bwfa.be, along with all the useful information regarding the auction and the collection. On Saturday 6 August 2016 the best of Belgian breeding meets, and everyone will have a chance to acquire one of these 25 top talents. Be there!
