Taking all government and RIVM guidelines into account, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will organize a live auction with 62 dressage and showjumping foals on Tuesday 15 September – of course adjusted to the current circumstances. The location remains unchanged; as per usual, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will take place at the KNHS Centre in Ermelo. The set-up and decoration will be different than normal, for example, the foal auction will take place in the open air with space for a limited number of VIP guests and invited guests.
Both the dressage and showjumping collections consist of foals that meet the strict criteria of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, time and again selected with the motto of ‘The Power of Performance’. “We are very pleased that, after two online auctions, we can finish this auction season with a live event for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag”, says Arjan van der Waaij. In addition to the 59 foals already published, three wildcard foals will be auctioned as well by Koen Olaerts on Tuesday 15 September. These wildcards will be revealed very soon.
Best from European soil in jumping collection
The world's best damlines are represented in the collection of jumping foals, put together by Fred van Straaten and Willem van Hoof. Think of multiple foals out of the line of Usha van 't Roosakker, the line of Qerly Chin, the Van' t Merelsnest damline or even the line of Glock's London and Ta Belle van Sombeke. The best damlines from The Netherlands are also represented, such as the Lottie line, the line of Larthago and the damlines of, for example, Gancia de Muze and Zinius. “We think we have selected an excellent group of showjumping foals for the September edition,” says Willem van Hoof on behalf of the selection committee. “Several foals stand out with their pedigrees, but I also think that we have a really strong collection in terms of the quality of the foals themselves. Foals with great conformations and a fantastic way of cantering – both in the group of fillies as well as colts.”
Son of Olympic mare Gibrouille du Lys
The jumping collection includes multiple fillies that could make a difference in breeding. Think of the Chacfly PS daughter Chardonnay van Kattenheye Z - a granddaughter of CSI5 * mare Sea Coast Ferly, or Ulise van 't Merelsnest - a daughter of Kasanova de la Pomme straight out of the family of Sapphire and VDL Glasgow van' t Mereslnest. Kato van het Gebergte - bred out of the sister of Valentina van 't Heike - and El Passo Z - El Barone 111 daughter out of top mare Capitola Z - are some of the many examples of excellent fillies out of the Prinsjesdag collection.
In addition, there are several colts that great potential for both sport and perhaps stallion approvals as well. How about Harley Optimus Z - the three-quarter brother of Global Champions Tour winner Harley van de Bisschop - or Chic Philyra V.V. Z - a son of Cornet Obolensky out of the Olympic mare Gibrouille du Lys.
Unique Prinsjesdag atmosphere
Unfortunately, the organization is only allowed to welcome a limited number of guests during the live auction this year, but everyone has the opportunity to place their bids online on the exclusive foals.
The VIP box will be divided into several separate tents around the auction arena, each with two VIP tables for four people. In this way, the 1.5 meter distance rule can be maintained while the organization tries to create the unique atmosphere of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag.
