Celebrating its fortieth birthday, Foal Auction Borculo kicks off the anniversary year appropriately with an amazing collection of jumping and dressage foals for the first Borculo Online Foal Auction. An exclusive number of ten foals born somewhat earlier in the year managed to please the jumping and dressage selection committee’s critical eye in terms of model, movement as well as pedigree. This elite foal collection, consisting of four fillies and six colts, will come under the virtual hammer from 26-29 April via www.veulenveilingborculo.nl.

Etoulon VDL and the world-famous Sina stem

Oreuza VDL (Apardi x Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) Oreuza VDL (Apardi x Thunder van de Zuuthoeve)

As we zoom in on the four jumping foals, we first encounter pretty Oreuza VDL. This daughter of the Olympic horse Apardi (Daniel Bluman) was bred out of the mare Koreuza S. She is a daughter of strong progenitor and BWP approved Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and a sister to the particularly popular KWPN stallion Etoulon VDL.

Another genetic gem is Osuussinaa, a daughter of the Holstein top progenitor Colman. Her dam Abersinaa (s. Calido I) is also the dam of KWPN approved Kobalt VDL (s. Modesto). They lead us to granddam Lersinaa, former Dutch jumping champion Emmerton VDL’s dam (Jur Vrieling). Great-granddam Dersinaa is Modesto’s dam, a former 1.60m top horse under Frenchman Jean Marc Nicolas.

Halifax van het Kluizebos and Van ’t Roosakker genes

The first colt is Oakley W, son of the wonderful Halifax van het Kluizebos, who won the 2018 Rome Grand Prix with Lorenzo de Luca. Dam Zilverstar W is a daughter of the mighty Zirocco Blue VDL and granddam Dixie d’Amain produced as much as five international jumping horses at 1.60m, 1.50m (3x) and 1.45m level. She is also the granddam of Top Hero (1.60m) as well as Tsar Hero (1.50m).

The final genetic high-flyer here is Kalle JS Z, a rare son of the talented Kassander van ’t Roosakker (Gregory Wathelet), out of the well-known Grand Prix mare Electra van ’t Roosakker (Janika Sprunger). Kalle’s dam is the strong broodmare Cella (s. Verdi TN), who produced several still young but well performing offspring. She is also a sister to three international horses, including Ufo (1.60m, Francesco Turturiello).

Grand Prix influences in dressage foal collection

Looking at the dressage collection up close, we notice the abundance of Grand Prix genes in the dressage foals (4 colts, 2 fillies), on the sire side as well as the dam side. This goes for the Totilas x Negro filly just as much as the Escolar x Belissimo M colt. The collection also holds a daughter of Glock’s Toto Jr. out of Grand Galaxy Win’s sister, a son of Fürstenball from a very strong branch of the world-famous Dodona stem, a son of Jarville from the direct line of the well-known broodmare Murona and last but not least a black eye-catcher out of a For Romance II x De Niro combination.
