Every year the Westphalian Studbook invites to the Westphalian Main Licensing during the pre-Christmas time. It is always a highlight for breeders, athletes and horse enthusiasts. In 2025, about 100 promising dressage and show jumping stallions will compete to face the judgement of the licensing commission and to win the coveted title of Champion Stallion.
Numerous success stories of extraordinary jumping horses had their beginning right here in Münster-Handorf. Three examples show how formative the moments at the Westphalian Main Licensing can be.
For Chacco TN – From the licensing grounds to an international champion

The Westphalian stallion For Chacco TN by For Pleasure is a son out of the full sister of the Nations Cup winner Chacco's Son. In 2018, he received his positive licensing approval in Münster-Handorf and attracted attention straight away. Most recently, he impressed with his Dutch rider Marriet Smit-Hoekstra at „Sires of the World“ during the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championship for Young Horses 2025, winning this traditional competition after a spectacular jump-off.
Ebanking – A Westphalian on the road to success

The Westphalian Ebanking by Etoulon VDL was licensed in Münster in 2016. In 2022, British show jumper Joseph Stockdale took over the reins of the talented stallion and gently introduced him to higher jumping competitions in the big arenas. Today, the eleven-year-old is victorious in 1.60m competitions and shines with successes such as the recent Nations Cup victory in Calgary with the British team and a second place in the Grand Prix of Oslo.
Cornet Obolensky – A living legend

The Clinton son Cornet Obolensky was licensed at the Westphalian Main Licensing in 2001 and was afterwards sold to the Zhashkiv Stud in the Ukraine. His career is unique: A highly sought-after stud stallion, internationally successful under the saddle of Marco Kutscher and, among other things, European team champion with the German team. His offspring, including Cornado NRW, Comme il faut NRW, Clooney, Casual DV Z, Millfield Colette and many more, are shaping breeding and sport worldwide. Just recently in 2025 is significance as a breeding stallion was crowned with yet another milestone. He stands in leading place in the WBFSH World Ranking for sires.
OnLive Auction – Discover your future superstar
Today, Tuesday, at 1 pm, around 30 two-and-a-half-year-old jumping stallions will be up for sale at the OnLive Auction. The horses on offer are young horses with first-class pedigrees from the most successful damlines in Europe.
Sires such as Carrera VDL, Chacco-Blue, Comme il faut NRW, Conthargos, Emerald van het Ruytershof and Zirocco Blue guarantee the highest quality for show jumper breeding and sport.
