LANAKEN - From 24 to 28 September 2025, Domein Zangersheide will open its gates to welcome everyone to the 30th anniversary edition of the FEI WBFSH Jumping World Breeding Championships for Young Horses. For five days, Lanaken will be the stage where the most talented five-, six- and seven-year-old showjumpers in the world compete for the coveted title of World Champion.
Since its first edition in 1995, the Championships have grown into an institution, a meeting point for breeders, riders, owners and fans, and a unique bridge between breeding and sport. Over three decades, Lanaken has launched countless international careers and written unforgettable chapters in showjumping history. This anniversary edition not only celebrates that legacy but also looks ahead to the next generation of stars ready to emerge.
An extensive program
The 30th anniversary brings with it the most extensive and celebratory program in the history of the Championships. The FEI Sires of the World will once again bring approved stallions into the spotlight, while the Belgian Jumping Championship crowns the national champion on home soil. The weekend also features the Z-Ranking prize-giving ceremony and the Stallion Selection of Studbook Zangersheide, where the stallions of the future will be presented.
The prestigious Zangersheide Quality Auctions, from future prospects to proven stars
When the competition pauses in the arenas, the spotlight shifts to the auction ring. The Zangersheide Quality Jumpers – powered by MBA, returns on Thursday evening with its second edition. Launched in 2024 by Judy Ann Melchior, Christian Ahlmann and Jens Baackmann, the concept was created with the vision of offering horses of exceptional quality on a stage that truly reflects their potential. The success of the first edition, with references already making their mark in Aachen, Longines Ranking classes and the British Young Horse Championships, confirmed that vision and set a new standard in the auction world.
This year’s MBA collection once again reflects uncompromising quality. It features outstanding three-year-old prospects and a selection of competition horses aged five to nine, several of which have already distinguished themselves on the international stage. For buyers, it represents a rare opportunity to secure horses of unprecedented caliber, rarely available on the open market.
On Friday and Saturday evening, the spotlight turns to the foals in the renowned Zangersheide Quality Auction, a long-standing tradition that has set world records and introduced many future stars to the sport. The collection represents the very best of modern showjumping breeding, uniting pedigree, performance and potential, as the world’s most exceptional foals canter into the auction ring in Lanaken.
