Amanda Landeblad's top horse For Killy (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x For Pleasure, bred by D. Dunne) will retire from the sport following an injury the mare sustained during the CSIO5* Nations Cup in La Baule, France, the Swedish Equestrian Federation announced on Monday

During Friday’s Nations Cup in La Baule, team Sweden's Landeblad and the 16-year-old For Killy, owned by Jacobsbergs Stuteri, picked up four penalties in the first round, when the mare suddenly became lame when crossing the finish line.

“I immediately felt that something was wrong, and she was taken care of by our team veterinarian Rasmus and the veterinary team on site. She has been diagnosed with a tendon injury in her right foreleg, so we have decided that she will now retire from the sport,” Landeblad said in a press release shared by the Swedish Equestrian Federation.

Landeblad and For Killy were part of the Swedish squad at the 2025 European Championships in A Coruña, and have represented Sweden in numerous Nations Cups and international competitions at the highest level. They were one of the twelve horse-and-rider combinations included on the Swedish long list for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen.

“Of course, it is very sad to think that this was our last competition together, partly because of the World Championships, but also because of all the incredible moments we have shared in the competition arena. She has taken me all the way to the national team and the biggest arenas,” Amanda said in a press release. “The most important thing is that she is home now, can rehabilitate in peace and quiet, and live a long and happy life. Hopefully as the mother of some foals in the future."

“It has been a fantastic journey with For Killy. She has meant a great deal to the Swedish team over many years, and I hope she enjoys a wonderful life in retirement. As for Amanda, I look forward to continued success together with her entire team and her other horses,” the Swedish chef d’equipe Henrik Ankarcrona shared in a press release.
