Amy Millar’s Truman (Mylord Carthago x Colibri, bred by Aurore Merel) retires from the sport, Team Millar has announced on social media. The now 16-year-old gelding joined the Millar-family in 2017, after Maelle Martin (FRA), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Tiffany Foster (CAN) and Yann Candele (CAN) all made an international appearance with him during 2015 and 2016.

With Amy in the saddle, Truman represented Canada at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (FRA), at the 2022 World Championships in Herning (DEN) as well as at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago (CHI) where they claimed team silver and placed sixth individually. Amy and Truman were also part of the winning Canadian team in the BMO Nations Cup at the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ in 2021.

“An Era Comes to a Close,” Team Millar paid tribute to Truman on social media. “Every moment of Truman’s career was unforgettable. He proudly wore the maple leaf, making 10 Nations Cup appearances for Team Canada, representing at the World Equestrian Games, the Pan American Games, and the Olympics. Together, Amy and Truman stood on six Nations Cup podiums, seven FEI Grand Prix podiums, and helped Canada capture Team Silver at the Pan Ams. A career like Truman’s is never built alone. Endless thanks to his dedicated and loving groom, Danny Ingratta, and his endlessly supportive owners, Patrick and Patty Overlund, whose belief in him never wavered. Gratitude also goes to the vets, farriers, and every hand that helped keep him at his best through the years. Thank you, Truman, for your heart, your fight, and the memories you’ve given us. You’ve given so much to the sport and to Team Canada, and you’ll forever be part of our story.”

At World of Showjumping, we wish Truman a verry happy retirement!
