The Belgian Vlaamse Liga Paardensport (VLP) has honored the Belgium showjumping team with the ‘Performance of the Year’ award yesterday at Jumping Mechelen. Chef d’Equipe Dirk Demeersman's squad earned this title by winning the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona in September.

Besides winning the final in Barcelona, the Belgian showjumpers also led the final standings of the Europe Division 1 of the FEI Nations Cups, and won the qualifier for the final in Barcelona. The winning team consisted Gudrun Patteet, Olivier Philippaerts, Gregory Wathelet, Jos Lansink and Judy Ann Melchior.

The VLP Award for ‘Sports Personality of the Year’ went to Ludo Philippaerts, while the young Belgian rider Jeroen Appelen was crowned ‘VLP Talent of the Year’.
