Henrik von Eckermann’s 16-year-old gelding King Edward (Edward 28 x Feo) – with whom the Swedish rider claimed individual and team gold at the 2022 World Championships in Herning, Denmark, team gold at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, as well as the titles at both the 2023 and 2024 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Omaha, USA, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – has returned to five-star competition.
It’s been over one year since King Edward made his last five-star appearance, in Wellington, Florida, USA. This past weekend, King Edward jumped at the Longines Versilia Horse Show presented by Giorgio Armani in Lido di Camaiore, Italy. Prior to Longines Versilia Horse Show, King Edward had jumped a handful of smaller CSI1* classes at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre, the Netherlands, and at Sentower Park, Belgium, before returning at Longines Versilia Horse Show where he jumped with four faults in the CSI5* 1.60m Grand Prix Giorgio Armani presented by Longines to place 19th.
