Autralia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander has acquired a part of the 11-year-old gelding Iron Dames Cydello (Cascadello x Forsyth FRH, bred by Christof Schörnig).
“I’m thrilled to be riding Cydello and I’m looking forward to our journey together,” Tops-Alexander – who is part of the Monaco Comets powered by Iron Dames GCL-team – commented to World of Showjumping.
Previously hugely successful with Richard Vogel (GER), Katrin Eckermann (GER) took over the reins on the chestnut gelding in May this year when he was acquired by Deborah Mayer’s Iron Dames equestrian team. Cydello and Eckermann had good results together during their short partnership, taking a CSIO5* 1.55m win at their second outing at Piazza di Siena in Rome, as well as placing fourth in the CSI5* 1.60m LGCT Grand Prix of Paris, 9th in the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix in La Baule and 11th in the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix in Dinard.
“I had a very special connection with Cydello,” Katrin Eckermann commented to World of Showjumping. “I believe we had championship potential together, and I had big plans for next year. While it is sad to lose him, I wish Edwina the best of luck.”
