Laura Kraut’s Emeraldo 4 (Emerald x Narcos II, bred by Gestüt Eichenhain) has been acquired by Cian O’Connor who this week makes his debut with the 9-year-old chestnut gelding in Coapexpan, Mexico, where the two have already been collecting a ribbon with a 3rd place in Friday’s CSI2* 1.45m class.

With Kraut in the saddle, Emeraldo 4 has shown great promise. This summer, the pair won the CSIO5* 1.50m Prize of StädteRegion Aachen at CHIO Aachen, while placing in the top ten at five-star 1.50-1.55m level at venues such as Wellington, Ocala, Rome, La Baule and Dublin. Prior to Kraut taking over the reins at the beginning of the 2025-season, Emeraldo 4 was produced by German rider Pia-Luise Baur.

“Emeraldo is a horse I have been following all year,” O’Connor told World of Showjumping. “He’s had great results with Laura, and I saw him winning in Florida earlier in the year and then again in Aachen this summer. An opportunity arose to buy him, and I’m delighted to have been able to have him join my stable. He’s very competitive and a wonderful horse, and he is still only 9-years-old so I’m looking forward to the future.”
