Brazil, host of the 2016 Olympic Games, and the European Union have reached an agreement on the issues that might have prevented equestrian sports from taking place in Rio next year. The problems regarding quarantine conditions and sanitary problems have now been solved between the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and the EU, which means that the horses competing at the Olympic Games will be able to travel to and from Brazil without any trouble.
Earlier this month, the FEI released a statement following concern that the equestrian sports would have to take place outside Brazil during the Games - expressing that they were confident that the horses would be able to travel back and forth to Rio to participate.
