The FEI has published a list of proposed changes to the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances List (EPSL), put together by the Equine Prohibited Substances List Group – a sub-committee of the FEI Veterinary Committee.

One of the proposed changes is to include octopamine – currently a banned substance – also as a specified substance, given its natural occurance in certain plants and invertebrates. It is also proposed to include trilostane, deferoxamine, isosorbide, cabergoline, etidronic acid, carmoterol, valsartan, eprosartan and vatinoxan – all previously unlisted subtances – as banned substances.

Any accepted changes, subject to consultation and review before their possible implementation, will come into effect on 1 January 2026.
