At the London Olympia International Horse Show back in December, John Roche – FEI Jumping Director and Steward General – was honoured for his 32 years of service to equestrian sports by the London Olympia Organizing Committee. Event Director Simon Brooks-Ward presented Roche with an engraved decanter, and he took the salute from The Household Cavalry – that were one of the displays at Olympia. Roche was at CSI5*-W London Olympia as the FEI representative.

Roche, who will be retiring from his role as FEI Jumping Director at the end of August after the Tokyo Olympic Games, said to World of Showjumping: “It was a great honour to receive this recognition for the work I have done for our sport. This year is my 33rd in the sport. Some amazing things have happened during this time, and I believe the sport is really healthy and growing. I am grateful to everyone who have worked closely with me during all this time.”

“John has been a part of Olympia for 33 years and will be very much missed by everyone involved in the show,” Jo Peck, press officer at London Olympia, comments to World of Showjumping.
