2021 comes with modifications to the Jumping Rules, Veterinary Regulations, FEI General Regulations, Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations as well as changes to the FEI Equine Prohibited Substances List.
A major change in the Jumping Rules is that from January 1st 2021, at all international jumping events, only hind boots meeting a certain description will be allowed. Additionally, the use of vet wrap or any similar bandaging material under hind boots will no longer be permitted. The FEI has also specified the rule regarding rowel spurs: Spurs with notched or serrated rotating discs are not authorized anywhere within the grounds of international jumping events, whereas spurs with rotating discs that are not notched or serrated are allowed.
A big change in the Veterinary Regulations is that clipping, shaving and/or removing sensory hairs as of July 1st 2021 will be sanctioned with disqualification of the horse from the event. Also photographing or filming of EADCM sample collection without the Veterinary Department's authorisation is no longer allowed.
