Last week, the number of equine fatalities related to the EHV-1 outbreak that originated from Valencia, Spain, was seventeen. Sadly today, the German National Federation has advised the FEI of a further three mares that had aborted foals at the same stables where two adult horses and one neonatal foal had already died and five mares had aborted previously.

Additionally, the FEI received a notification from the International Collating Centre (ICC) of a horse that has tested positive to EHV-1 at its home stables in Germany following its return from Valencia.

A total of 41 horses still remain in Valencia, 34 of which are onsite at the venue and seven at a nearby private stable. The Spanish and Belgian National Federations notified the FEI that they have cancelled all national events until 12 April 2021.
